The parents of a missing southeast Volusia County man are helping search for him and are offering $15,000 for information leading to his location.
Stephen Paoletti, a 44-year-old licensed private investigator, was reported missing June 3 by a friend who said she last heard from him about four days before,
Connie and Tony Paoletti flew in from the Buffalo, N.Y., area on Wednesday night after their son vanished.
“He usually calls, texts, emails us and his friends and we got nothing,” said Tony Paoletti, 74.
They said the lack of contact is very uncharacteristic for their son, whom they described as a physically fit brown belt in karate and mixed-martial arts fan who also followed hockey.
“It’s just so, so unlike him to just not answer us or his phone calls,” Connie Paoletti said. “We spoke to him weekly. He spoke to his father two or three times a week during the week when I was at work and just talk about hockey scores and Ronda Rousey.”
A deputy went to Paoletti’s residence, a camper in the back of a property on Hideaway Lane near Edgewater, on June 3. The deputy spoke to Paoletti’s landlord Nora Galbreath who said she last saw him the night before. Galbreath said Paoletti was riding in a pickup but she did not know who he was with, a report states.
Paoletti had also recently clashed with his landlord Nora Galbreath who was trying to evict him from a camper on her property. Paoletti filed a grand theft complaint against Galbreath on May 24 when she had the camper moved without his knowledge.
Paoletti’s family has hired private investigator Rick Raymond to help in the search. Raymond said that Paoletti’s phone goes straight to voicemail and that Paoletti has not picked up his mail from his post office box, even though there is likely a paycheck waiting for him for working security at the Country 500 during Memorial Day weekend at Daytona International Speedway.
Raymond said Paoletti’s car is still parked at his residence.
Raymond said a friend last heard from Paoletti when she texted him May 30, 2017 saying she would call him back. Paoletti texted back to call when she could. But when she called she got no answer.
“He just vanished,” Raymond said.
